San Diego, California
By Chelsey from Chelsey Explores
If you want one of the best honeymoon destinations in the United States in November then San Diego should definitely be a top contender. It is the best time to go as the weather is beautiful and dry. It is perfect for many different types of outdoor activities.
First, head over to La Jolla, a hilly, seaside neighborhood within the city and start exploring as a new couple. There are so many fun things do in La Jolla but taking a double kayak on a Sea Caves tour is a great choice, especially if you are an outdoorsy couple. If you’ve never tried kayaking before, or as a duo, it can be a bit tricky at first so make sure you are ready to laugh. Besides, it’s a perfect activity to practice communicating with your new spouse.
If you’re looking for romance, grab a bottle of wine and your favorite picnic foods, and bring them to Sunset Cliffs to watch the sunset. This park is west facing so it is one of the most magical spots in San Diego for sunsets. If you’re driving, make sure to get there a bit early as parking tends to fill up quickly.
It’s your honeymoon so live it up with a private boat rental with hot tub. Hot Tub Crusin offers boats in various sizes with different size hot tubs. Connect your music, lounge on the boat or soak in the tub, this will be a day to remember.
Weather
In November, the daily high is an average of 70 degrees Fahrenheit with only 4 days of rains.
Directions
The best way to get to San Diego is by flying into San Diego International Airport. It is only a 10 minute drive into downtown and around 15- 20 minutes to the best beautiful beaches, including Coranado Island and La Jolla. If you are coming from L.A., Arizona, or Las Vegas, driving is also another great option.
Hotel Recommendation
Chelsey says, “For hotels, the iconic seaside Hotel del Coranado is always a fantastic choice, especially perfect for newlyweds. This resort has all kinds of amenities including a spa, a pool with rentable day beds, several attached restaurants, shops, and of course the beach right out front.”
Maui, Hawaii
By Rebecca from Veggie Abroad
Is there anything more romantic than gorgeous beaches, lush landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and shimmering blue waters? I don’t think so! All of that natural beauty coupled with the laid-back atmosphere make Maui one of the best places to consider for a honeymoon. A bonus is that November is the best time to go as it is considered shoulder season. Hotel rates will be pretty good too.
The first thing people think about when they think of Maui are the beautiful beaches and for a good reason. There are over 80 that offer a variety of activities with spectacular scenery that you’ll want to check out (maybe not all 80 but at least a few).
For a romantic stroll, make sure you hit Maui’s signature beach, Kaanapali. Try your hand at snorkeling around the coral reefs located off shore. If you prefer a more unique experience, check out the black sand on Honokalani Beach located in Waianapanapa State Park. Alternatively, take a snorkeling tour out to Molokini and keep your eyes open for dolphins!
Aside from being a beach bum, newlyweds can work up a sweat hiking the Waihee Ridge Trail — trust me, it’s worth it for the fantastic views. The challenging trail is 5 miles round-trip so don’t forget to bring water.
For something a little more leisurely, consider going whale watching. The Pacific Whale Foundation has a great tour that educates guests on whale conservation and behavior. If you’re lucky, you might even hear the whales sing. Humpback whales return to the waters around Maui beginning in November on their yearly migration.
When choosing somewhere to stay, the best areas are Lahaina or Kaanapali Beach, which are relatively near to each other. In both cases, you will be close to a variety of dining options, including a fantastic vegan restaurant in Maui, along with great shopping and other fun activities.
Weather
In November, visitors enjoy warm weather with temperatures in the mid-70s with plenty of sunshine everyday.
Directions
Lahaina or Kaanapali Beach are only about 45 minutes from the Kahului Airport. Most people rent a vehicle for their stay.
Hotel Recommendation
Rebeccas says, “If you’re looking for a romantic getaway that is a little fancier to celebrate your nuptials, check out The Westin Maui Resort and Spa located right on Kaanapali Beach.”
Park City, Utah
By Jamie from Photo Jeepers
Without a doubt, one of the best honeymoon vacations in the USA in November is Park City, Utah.
After all, this idyllic metropolis sits just east of Salt Lake City and is known for quaint 19th century buildings that line Main Street. In addition, it offers incredible ski slopes that were used to host the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Depending on when you visit in November, you could definitely make use of the area’s incredible ski resorts since ski season typically starts around mid-November. You can easily rent skis and spend the day taking on this amazing mountain.
However, regardless of the weather, you could always enjoy a romantic gondola ride from Canyons Village. Pack a picnic lunch so that you can relax and take in the sweeping views of Park City Mountain Resort.
Afterwards, indulge in a couples’ massage at the award winning Westgate Park City Resort and Spa.
While all of the treatments here are top-notch, the Couple’s Reconnect package is extra special and includes a couple’s aromatherapy bath, custom massage, a hot oil scalp treatment, and shea butter foot hydration.
Finally, go for a romantic walk – hand in hand – along historic Main Street. In fact, this selection of 47 buildings are listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. It features charming buildings in Queen Anne, Victorian, and Mission/Spanish Revival architectural styles.
If you have a bit of extra time, you could easily extend your honeymoon to include a visit to Capitol Reef National Park in November since this majestic place is just under four hours away. There is wonderful hiking in spectacular scenery. If you enjoy photography, this is the best time of year to capture some stunning photos.
Weather
Be sure to pack plenty of warm weather gear since November highs are around 44F while daily lows are around 21F. Expect an average of 6 days of rain and/or snow this month.
Directions
Fly into Salt Lake City International Airport. Park City is only 36 mile away and a short, 45-minute drive via I-80 east.
Hotel Recommendation
Jamie says, “When you’re ready, relax inside one of the amazing suites at Montage Deer Valley. This incredible, American craftsman-inspired alpine resort allows guests to ski-in/ski-out while enjoying exquisite service from wonderfully helpful staff.”
St. Augustine, Florida
By Richa from My Ticklefeet
If you are looking for an off best yet romantic getaway in the United States for a November honeymoon, then look no more. St. Augustine, Florida has everything – great weather, beautiful white sand beaches, an interesting old town, and tons of history.
In fact, it was the first ever settlement in the USA. You can find pieces of history from the Spanish to English settlers in the old town to the 20th century investors at places like Flagler College – a must visit for their beautiful garden and history tour.
If you are visiting in mid to late November, you will be taking your romantic trip a notch as the light festival of St. Augustine begins in mid November. The entire town is lit up with twinkling Christmas lights making it festive and romantic, just like those fairytale small towns in many wonderful Christmas movies.
There are so more things to do in St. Augustine. Start with exploring the colonial quarters in the old town on foot as it will transport you together back in time. Then, walk from the old town to Fort Castillos de San Marcos which offers a great view of the Atlantic Ocean.
Another option would be to take a tour of the city in the hop on hop off trolley. Of course, you could make it even more romantic by taking a tour in a horse carriage at sunset.
Besides sightseeing, there are a bunch of other fantastic experiences to share together such as whiskey tasting at St. Augustine Distillery, wine tasting at San Sebastian Winery or by sunset cruise, and chocolate tasting at Whetstone Chocolate Factory.
Weather
The temperatures in the month of November are very pleasant in the mid 60s to 70s, although cooling in the night. Carry a light jacket with you if you easily get cold.
Directions
The best way to get to St. Augustine is to fly into Jacksonville International airport and rent a car, it’s about an hour drive.
Hotel Recommendation
Richa says, “If you are truly looking for a unique and romantic experience, then stay at one of the BnBs located in the heart of the colonial quarters. Some of the historic houses have been converted into Bed & Breakfast accommodations.
In addition, consider dining in one of the many fine restaurants in these historic houses. There are plenty of places to choose from such as Preserved, Raintree, The Floridian, The Martini Bar, etc.”
Sedona, Arizona
By Jessica from The Uprooted Traveler
Sedona, Arizona is a beautiful place known for its stunning red rock canyons and formations. It would be a spectacular backdrop for a special celebration like a birthday or honeymoon, whether you’re interested in hitting the trails or indulging in one of the city’s luxurious spas. Beyond that, in November, you’ll have great weather so you can enjoy the incredible landscape from many vantage points, including your hot tub.
Once you arrive, you’ll be inundated with possible outdoor adventures for the two of you to enjoy. For example, there are many unforgettable hikes in Sedona. You can take in the views of the Ponderosa Pine tree forests from the iconic Devil’s Bridge; watch the sunrise light up the red canyon walls from Cathedral Rock; or explore some of the off-the-beaten path caves along Soldier Pass Trail.
Looking to get your adrenaline pumping? Consider an ATV tour together, where you can bump and zoom through Sedona’s seemingly endless red desert landscape, whooping and hollering together in delight.
On the other end of the spectrum, Sedona has tons of bougie hotels, like the Enchantment Resort, that offers fantastic romantic and soothing experiences. Relax and enjoy a romantic couples massage or, alternatively, treatments that lean into the city’s New Age-y vibes, like an energy clearing.
Weather
Regardless of whether your honeymoon is more adventurous or mostly spent relaxing at a luxe resort, November is the best time to visit Sedona. Highs are in the upper 60s, lows in the 40s, and there are only clear skies.
You’ll enjoy great weather while you take in the incredible landscape whether you’re checking out Sedona’s trails or simply taking in the red rock views from your hot tub.
Directions
To reach Sedona, Fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is a 100 mile drive, through Arizona’s beautiful desert, to reach Sedona.
Hotel Recommendation
Jessica says, “For the perfect place to call your home during your honeymoon, consider a stay at the luxurious L’Auberge de Sedona. It offers romantic outdoor fine-dining options, a full service spa to enjoy together, and immaculately manicured grounds to stroll around.”
Door County, Wisconsin
By Paulina from Paulina On The Road
A Door County getaway is a break from the regular hustle and bustle of city life. Couples can disconnect from their everyday schedule and spend some quality time with each other doing some wonderful things.
Door County allows you to spend your days shopping, relaxing at a spa with your loved one, visiting wineries and tasting local breweries. Containing 10 waterfronts and 300 miles of shoreline, Door County is one of the best underrated honeymoon destinations in the USA that could be perfect for you.
Couples can enjoy several things together. Above everything, the first thing that attracts couples to Door County is its seven wineries. Sharing a tour of the wineries along with wine tasting is a wonderful experience. You can also taste handcrafted wines, beer and spirits. One of the best parts is chatting and getting to meet the friendly locals. Afterwards, you can have a romantic dinner at one of the old fashioned fireside tables or popular fine dining restaurants in town.
There are some pretty picnic spots in Door County, like Elison Bluff Overlook and Rock Island Beach. If you are curious and enjoy the romance of the water, take a road trip and visit the lighthouses that have been the identity of Door County for more than 150 years. They are architectural gems that will leave you and your partner awestruck.
Weather
The weather is partly-cloudy year-round. Expect average high temperatures around 42 degree Fahrenheit. Bundle up and enjoy.
Directions
It is the easternmost city in the United States and can be reached directly by flight. There are three international airports, the nearest being Austin Strubel Airport. It is one hour drive to Sturgeon Bay from there.
Hotel Recommendation
Paulina says, “Glidden Lodge Beach is one of the best resorts in Door County for couples. It is not only beautiful but gives lots of privacy for your vacation.”
Joshua Tree National Park, California
By Taylor from Nomads In Nature
When you want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful and serene escape, then definitely consider booking your honeymoon getaway in November to Joshua Tree National Park.
This magical desert oasis is full of adventures for you and your partner to enjoy from the National Park to the quaint small town of Joshua Tree.
For the perfect weekend, I would spend one full day in Joshua Tree National Park. Here you can hike through the Wonderland of Rocks, take photos of the unique Joshua Trees and cholla cacti, and find one of these romantic sunset spots for the perfect night cap.
Don’t miss out on the town of Joshua Tree and all its charms. You should reserve a sound bath at Integraton where you and your partner for a sonic healing session. It is one of the deepest meditations you will experience in one of the most unique buildings ever constructed. The original architect of Integration was given the plans to create this unusual dome by aliens… that in itself should be worth a reservation!
For a fun night and great food, make sure to visit Pioneertown and eat at Pappy and Harriet’s. They have amazing live music most nights and an incredible atmosphere.
Weather
The best time to visit Joshua Tree National Park is fall, winter or spring as the summer temperatures are above 100F most days. Average high temperatures is 67 degrees Fahrenheit dropping to around 47 degrees at night.
Directions
The easiest route to Joshua Tree National Park is to fly into LAX and rent a car to drive the 150 miles/ two and half hours to the park entrance. Another option is to fly to Palm Springs and drive less than one hour.
Hotel Recommendation
Taylor says, “For a memorable honeymoon, I recommend staying at a rental unit just outside the Park where you will have 360 views of the desert, endless magical sunsets, and your own private hot tub.”
New York City, New York
By Mary from Wander U
New York City is the city that never sleeps, which makes it the perfect honeymoon destination if you don’t plan to do much sleeping…Because of all the sightseeing, we mean.
But you can also get some inspiration for your “ahem”, marital duties at the Museum of Sex. This unique spot offers exhibitions, art, and artifacts that range from tasteful to naughty to just plain strange.
If you prefer a more wholesome daytime activity, take the tram to Roosevelt Island for a heart-racing 3-minute ride over the East River. Enjoy incredible aerial views of the city for much cheaper than a private helicopter ride.
Once you’re on Roosevelt Island, take a relaxing walk along the esplanade to watch the sunset behind the Manhattan skyline.
To make the most of NYC’s culture, you and your new spouse can create memories at some of the fanciest events you’ve attended since… well, probably your wedding.
Dress up for date night at the Lincoln Center, where there is almost always a ballet, opera, or concert onstage. Then, continue the luxury with dinner at nearby Boulud Sud with offerings from celebrity chef Daniel Boulud.
If you are a first time visitor to New York City (or not) and are looking for cost saving and safety tips, hotel and transportation recommendations, please see 50 Best New York City Tips For First Time Travelers.
Weather
November in New York City is mild and sometimes a bit chilly. During the day, temperatures are usually in the 50s, with nights in the mid-40s. Most days are either sunny or overcast, with only occasional rain.
Directions
Honeymooning in New York gives the benefit of easy travel, no matter where you’re coming from. Three airports, JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark, serve the greater NYC area. You can easily take a taxi or public transit into the city. Alternatively, surprise your partner with a limo ride to your hotel!
On the other end of the budget, it can also be extremely affordable to reach New York from anywhere on the East Coast. A train from Washington to New York can be under $30, and arrives right in Manhattan at Penn Station.
Hotel Recommendation
Mary says, “Because truly, the thing to splurge on for your honeymoon is the hotel. Go big and book a suite at The Plaza, a New York landmark unto itself and the peak of opulence. They even offer special romance packages with champagne, rose petals, and a private afternoon tea for two in your suite. Other classic luxury options to consider are Gramercy Park Hotel and The Pierre.”
South Padre Island, Texas
By Ketki from Enchanting Texas
Easily one of the best honeymoon holidays in November in the United States, South Padre Island is an exquisite barrier island just off the southeastern coast of Texas. It is known for its affordable romantic resorts, incredible beaches, and warm year round weather.
Try out some of the best things to do in South Padre Island, including visiting the always stunning, South Padre Bayside Beach. Enjoy a romantic sunrise walk before embarking on a quiet visit to the South Padre Island National Seashore. It’s an amazing national park that features 65 miles of unspoiled coastline. It is also home to Malaquite Beach and Bird Island Basin Beach.
Next, learn all about the history of Port Isabel Lighthouse, built in 1852, before looking for dolphins aboard a romantic sunset dinner cruise.
Alternatively, take some time to enjoy a romantic dinner for two at Pinted Marlin Grille. Not only does the restaurant provide guests with stellar sunset views of Laguna Madre Bay, but the tropical cocktails are delicious and the vibrant decor is fun to see.
Weather
Enjoy pristine blue skies since November is a dry month with an average of only 3 days of rain.
Temperatures are also warm with highs around 79F and lows around 65F.
Directions
To enjoy this incredible honeymoon hot spot, fly into either Valley international Airport, McAllen International Airport, or Brownsville International Airport. Ideally though, fly into Brownsville since you can access a free, 35 minute Valley Metro shuttle service to South Padre Island.
Hotel Recommendation
Ketki says, “There are plenty of romantic hotels on the island. The luxurious, 4-star My Sapphire Luxury Beachfront Rentals is ideal for newlyweds. After all, accommodations include premium beach access (it’s less than one-minute away) as well as use of an outdoor swimming pool, a communal lounge, and a garden.”
Kanab, Utah
By Christine from Live Love Run Travel
Kanab, Utah, is one of the best places for a honeymoon getaway in November in the USA if you love the outdoors and adventures. Located in Southern Utah, the temperatures are a little cooler in November but still good for hiking.
As far as activities, there are plenty of great options near Kanab. You can stay closer to town with hikes like Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch slot canyon or the hike to the Mars-like landscape of the Toadstool Hoodoos. These are both fairly easy hikes you can enjoy while talking and spending quality time together.
For the more adventurous couples, rent a high clearance 4×4 vehicle and head out to White Pocket Arizona. Kanab is one of two places to use as a starting point to access this otherworldly and off-the-beaten-path location.
Test your marriage with a two hour drive mostly over soft sand roads before you arrive and see that it was all worth it. If you’re up for it, camp out under the starry skies and enjoy the sounds of nature overnight.
If you want to get back to the comfort of your hotel room, take a couple of hours to explore the unique natural formation, working together to climb over the varied landscape and taking in the beautiful views together.
Kanab is also a great home base spot to explore Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park which are both beautiful in the fall and winter. If you love the outdoors and hiking, Kanab is somewhere to consider for a fantastic November honeymoon in the USA.
Weather
Expect highs in the upper 50s and lows in the 30s, with little chance of rain or snow.
Directions
To get to Kanab, the closest international airport is 200 miles away in Las Vegas. The drive is beautiful, and you can add stops in places like Valley of Fire State Park and Zion National Park.
Hotel Recommendation
Christine says, “Kanab has several unique accommodations, but the Hampton Inn in Kanab is hard to beat because it is affordable and centrally located for things to do and places to eat. Another good option with more character is Canyons Lodge which has a good restaurant attached.”
San Francisco, California
By Agnes from The Van Escape
San Francisco is one of the most iconic cities in America, full of life, diversity, unique attractions, beautiful architecture, and fantastic nature. It is perfect place for a honeymoon trip in America in November, as every couple will find exciting activities that suit them. In addition, it offers perfect weather for sightseeing and walking. And most importantly – it’s less crowded, so you will not have to wait in line to visit the major attractions.
When planning a San Francisco itinerary, consider a sunset cruise in San Francisco Bay. It is one of the most extraordinary experiences for a couple. The views of the famous red-tinted Golden Gate Bridge and the city skyline from the water are simply fabulous. Some cruises offer romantic dinners or drinks as well so make sure you keep an eye out for those if that interests you.
Another fantastic activity is to visit one of the most famous former prisons in the world – Alcatraz. You will get goose bumps when you feel the cool wind blowing from the prisoners’ cells.
A good idea before visiting the island is to watch together the thriller, Escape from Alcatraz, starring Clint Eastwood. The movie is based on an authentic story, so a visit afterwards will be even more exciting.
After a thrilling experience, nothing is better than a little sugar. Go to Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory, where you can taste the flavors of excellent chocolate and try some decadent ice cream desserts.
Alternatively, visit Chinatown, the oldest in America, for a delicious lunch or walking food tour. There you can buy a fortune cookie to see if your stars align.
Before a romantic dinner, make sure you enjoy fresh oysters that stimulate the senses and sip delicious California wine at the Embarcadero. And when it comes to wine – a day trip to nearby wineries in Napa & Sonoma Valley is a great way to spend time together and enjoy some beautiful nature.
Weather
The weather in San Francisco offers mild days in November. It can be chilly and a little windy since the city is surrounded by water, but the days are still very sunny. Daily high temperatures decrease from 67°F to 60°F, rarely falling below 55°F or exceeding 74°F. Daily low temperatures are around 55°F.
Directions
San Francisco has an excellent international airport with convenient connections. You can get quickly (about 40 minutes) from the airport by public transport such as bus, train, cab, or Uber.
It is not worth renting a car to get around the city, as there is a problem with parking. You can explore the city on foot or take the historic cable cars and busses. However, make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the city is located in the hills.
Hotel Recommendation
Agnes says, “The Palace Hotel is a landmark hotel on Market Street and New Montgomery Street. It offers a perfect experience for honeymooners. You encounter the luxury of the Gilded Age, historic architecture, world-class service, and modern facilities.”
Kauai, Hawaii
By Allison from Eternal Arrival
One of the best places in the United States for a November honeymoon trip is Kauai. This gorgeous island has beautiful year-round weather and that doesn’t stop in the winter months. Kauai is nicknamed “The Garden Isle” making it the perfect Hawaiian island for couples who like to be outdoors and do adventures together.
There’s no better way to spend a honeymoon than making memories. Taking an adrenaline-pumping doors-off helicopter tour over Kauai’s Na Pali Coast together is something that you’ll never forget doing with your new spouse.
You’ll see hidden waterfalls only visible by helicopter, canyons that look straight out of the Southwest, and the stunning sea cliffs of the Na Pali Coast meeting the beautiful blue waters of the Pacific. These are a must on any honeymoon Kauai itinerary,
Kauai is also a great place for couples who like to hike together. There are a plethora of trails that offer incredible views such as doing a portion of the Kalalau Trail (reservations required) or a hike into the Waimea Canyon.
Of course, you can also relax in a resort with poolside cocktails in hand and a view of the beach and palm trees. However, Kauai is even better when you see its’ more adventurous side.
Weather
The typical weather in November is warm, with average highs of 78 and lows of 58, with decent humidity to keep things feeling tropical. Rain is common, but it is usually limited to brief showers rather than all-day downpours (that said, still include a light packable rain jacket).
Directions
You can fly into Lihue Airport and from there, anywhere on Kauai is within an hour’s drive. Direct flights are available from the West Coast. People further afield may need to fly into Honolulu and then catch a small flight to Lihue, or have a West Coast layover.
Hotel Recommendation
Allison says, “The best honeymoon resorts on Kauai tend to be located in the Poipu area. I recommend the Grand Hyatt Kauai if you can afford the splurge. The grounds are beautiful with tropical gardens and pools, as well as a golf course, spa, and seven restaurants on site.”
Lake Tahoe, California
By Meg from Fox In The Forest
One of the best US honeymoon destinations in November is Lake Tahoe, California. After all, this stunning fresh water lake in the Sierra Nevada Mountains sits right on the border between Nevada and California. It’s also an iconic honeymoon escape since it’s a place that is known for its relaxing hot springs, incredible beaches, and fabulous ski resorts.
However, if you visit before the start of the ski season – around Thanksgiving (depending on the weather) – you’ll enjoy fewer crowds and lower prices.
Upon arrival, enjoy romantic things like a ride in the Heavenly Gondola. Not only is this place home to one of the best views in Lake Tahoe, but it is an ideal spot for skiing if you visit near the end of the month. Otherwise, just relax on the observation deck, soak up the views, and enjoy a warm beverage together at Cafe Blue.
Next, drive an hour outside of Lake Tahoe and enjoy a refreshing dip in the incredible hot springs at Sierra Hot Springs. Highlights include a Meditation pool, a fantastic domed hot spring, an old bathhouse, and a silent meditation pool where you can snuggle up together in 102 degree waters.
However, no trip to Lake Tahoe would be complete without visiting Emerald Bay State Park and enjoying popular hikes like the Eagle Falls/Eagle Lake hike and the Emerald Bay – Vikingsholm Hike. Alternatively, take a heart stopping helicopter ride and see this spectacular park from above.
Just do your research and check weather conditions before you hike. While the park is open all year long, the weather can change rapidly and hiking may not be a great idea at the time of your visit.
Weather
The weather won’t be too chilly since daily highs are around 51F while daily lows are around 31F.
However, you may want to pack a jacket with a hood since the area gets around 4 days of rain/snow at this time of year.
Directions
Fly into Reno-Tahoe International Airport and drive around 45 minutes (or 35 miles) on I-580 S and US-395 S/NV-431 W to Incline Village and North Lake Tahoe.
Hotel Recommendation
Meg says, “Unwind for the night inside one of the luxurious rooms at the Marriott Grand Residence Club in Heavenly Village. It’s an enchanting, super romantic hotel where you can make use of an outdoor heated pool, a full-service spa and wellness center.

It attracts millions of visitors each year as there are a lot of things to see and do in Key West, with no lack of romantic things for honeymooners.
