Here are the most beautiful beaches to visit in June in Europe. They are located all over Europe in cities, towns, and stunning natural settings. Each of them offer different land and water experiences: from rocky or sandy beaches to gentle swimming and paddle boarding or some of the best surfing in the world.
In the following article, I have collaborated with some amazing travel bloggers to highlight the best summer beach getaways in Europe. Together, we include the expected facilities that each beach offers, how to reach them, and whether there are any important tips that you should know. Those include where to park, safety issues, or whether you may need water shoes (among other things).
In addition, I highlight the best things to do at these beaches during the summer season, and what other amazing activities are offered nearby. Finally, if they stayed or know of a fantastic hotel, campground, or other type of accommodation, those have also been detailed.
Rodas Beach, Spain

When traveling through northern Spain‘s Galicia region, you should not miss the paradise-like Cies Islands, home to the infamous Rodas Beach. It was named ‘the best beach in the world’ by The Guardian a few years back and remains one of the best beach destinations in Europe in June.
Situated in the Atlantic Ocean, roughly 15 km (about 9.3 miles) off the coast of the city of Vigo, this tiny archipelago has “Nature Reserve” status and is a part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park.
The pristine Rodas Beach, with its turquoise waters and soft white sand, is what connects two of the three islands – Do Faro and Monteagudo.
The beach is an ideal place to soak up the sun and unwind, though the islands also offer diving and hiking opportunities. Most of the walking trails are suitable even for non-hikers, and the natural scenery you’ll enjoy is no less than jaw-dropping. Especially scenic is the Alto del Príncipe Route, where you’ll get picture-perfect panoramic views of the islands and the beach.
As for the crowds, June is still a relatively tranquil month. While the islands are a popular destination among the locals, they haven’t been fully discovered by international travelers, so they’re still a hidden gem in Spain. Plus, daily visits to the islands are limited, so the chances of Rodas Beach getting overcrowded are very low.

Being a protected area, the Cies Islands and Rodas Beach do not offer any services or facilities except for a couple of restaurants and a campsite. The latter allows you to hire a tent or bring your own. However, it must be booked in advance due to its popularity and the limited number of available spots.

June is a fantastic time to visit northern Spain in terms of weather. Average highs are 72 degrees Fahrenheit with very little rain.

The closest international airport is in Porto, a little over 1.5 hours away.
Several companies, including Mar de Ons and Naviera Nabia, operate ferry shuttles to the Cies Islands. They leave from Vigo, Cangas, Baiona, and a few other small coastal towns, stopping right in front of Rodas Beach. These also must be booked in advance. Note that prior to purchasing your ferry tickets, you’ll also need to get a permit to visit the islands.

Located an easy drive from Palermo, San Vito lo Capo beach sits on the northwestern coast of Sicily, Italy. This gorgeous white sand beach is not only popular with tourists but a haven for locals looking for a little sun and relaxation. It is one of the best European tropical beaches in summer.
San Vito lo Capo beach spans approximately 3 kilometres (1.8 miles) and boasts the crystal-clear turquoise waters you would normally find only in the Caribbean. And with both free and private beaches to choose from, you will certainly have plenty of options to make your visit memorable.
If you arrive later in the day, your best bet is to head straight to the private beaches, where you will have the best chance of securing a spot. San Vito lo Capo also offers a fully accessible beach for people who have mobility issues.
Aside from the incredible beach, San Vito lo Capo also has much to offer. There are small shops and eateries to explore right in town, or you can take a day trip to some of the surrounding areas.
From nature reserves to a beautiful lighthouse, hiking trails, day cruises, and museums dedicated to the area’s tuna fishing industry, there are so many things to do in and near San Vito lo Capo.
Beach Facilities
Heading to a private beach in San Vito lo Capo is definitely the way to go. For a fee, you will be provided with loungers and an umbrella, and you are guaranteed some personal space and less chaos. Most companies (and there are a ton) will charge roughly the same amount, so there is no need to ‘shop around.’
Many of the companies will also provide you with access to ice-cold water, which is a plus as it gets incredibly hot in Sicily! The fee is mostly based on how close to the water your lounger is, although some companies will offer other extras or better loungers. Expect to pay between 10 and 25 euros per umbrella with two loungers.
Weather
August is when San Vito lo Capo beach is the most crowded. You should definitely arrive at the beach no later than 9 am to secure a good spot, especially in the free area. However, in June, the beach is less crowded and the temperatures are much more pleasant than July and August.
Expect average highs of 78°F with practically no rain. However, it will be humid around half the days.
Directions
There are several different options for getting to San Vito lo Capo beach. The easiest is by renting a car and driving 1 hour and 47 minutes from Palermo, a major city with an international airport.
There are also coach tours from Palermo, as well as day cruises from Castellammare del Golf. Once you arrive in the town of San Vito, the beach is just a short walk from almost any part of town.

Kynance Cove, England

Cornwall’s Kynance Cove is based in far west Cornwall in the UK. It is a tiny cove with dramatic rocks with a secluded location on the Lizard Peninsula.
Although this beach is tiny and isolated, it’s one of the most popular Cornwall beaches, thanks to its bright blue Caribbean-esque waters and golden sands. When you visit, you won’t believe that you’re in the UK! The sandy beach is near the most southerly point of mainland UK, looking out onto the dramatic Atlantic Ocean.
Because Kynance Cove is very small, it fills up fast. However, it’s one of the best June beach getaways in Europe. You’re likely to still have warm, sunny weather, but the crowds are much smaller than in July and August. However, the sea from Kynance Cove can be quite treacherous – so be very careful if you go out swimming.
It’s also important to be aware of tide times, as the sea comes in quick at Kynance Cove. Ask a local if you’re unsure.

There’s not much in the way of facilities – one cafe serves local cider and basic meals, and there’s a National Trust car park and toilets. There are a few fun things to do in Kynance Cove, however, including an excellent walk to Lizard Point (which is the most southerly point of the United Kingdom).

Directions
Cornwall Airport in Newquay is the closest international airport to Kynance Cove. However, this is a small airport with limited flights each day. Bristol Airport is larger with more options for flights and of course, London has 6 airports with even more flight options. You could pick up a train to Cornwall from either location.
It is a one hour drive from Cornwall Airport to Kynance Cove.

Tonel Beach, Portugal

Tonel Beach, known as Praia do Tonel in Portuguese, is on the western side of Ponta de Sagres. This beach is just a 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk from the center of the town of Sagres, and it’s one of the best Algarve beaches to visit while exploring southern Portugal and one of the best European beach holidays in June.
Tonel Beach is in a unique position because it’s right at the southwestern tip of the country. The Atlantic Ocean delivers massive waves to the beach, which are great for surfing, especially in the winter months. The beach has golden sand and is surrounded by towering cliffs that shelter the beach from the wind.
During June, Tonel Beach fills up fast, so be sure to set up your spot on the sand in the morning. It is also a popular surfing beach and there are several surf schools that operate out of Sagres. The schools will provide all the equipment you need, as well as an instructor, to help you learn to surf.
If lounging on the beach or surfing doesn’t interest you, you can follow paths up to the top of the beach’s surrounding cliffs for amazing aerial views of Tonel beach and the Atlantic Ocean. However, make sure you stay a safe distance from the edges of the cliffs. After a day of sunshine, head into Sagres to enjoy a plate of seafood for dinner.

Tonel Beach has a small parking lot where vehicles can park for free. The beach does not have public washrooms, but there is a bar and restaurant called Tonel Beach Bar Sagres right on the beach. Because the beach is so close to Sagres, it’s easy to pop into town for restaurants, groceries, and other amenities you might need.

The closest city to Tonel Beach is Lagos which is 18 miles (30 km) away. The drive from Lagos is an easy 30 minutes, or the public bus between Lagos and Sagres takes about an hour.

Balos Lagoon, Greece (Crete)

The dreamy Balos Lagoon is one of the most famous beaches in Europe and by far one of the most beautiful and must-visit beaches in Crete. This silky sand paradise in the Greek Islands is located on the northernmost corner of Chania, a little over an hour’s drive from Chania’s Old Town.
The Balos Lagoon is a pristine destination included in the Natura 2000 network (a network of protected areas covering Europe’s most valuable and threatened species and habitats).
This is one of the most visited beaches in Crete and during high season, it gets extremely crowded. If you wish to experience some solitude, we recommend getting here before 9:00 am. However, June is the best time to enjoy less crowds and to appreciate its breathtaking landscapes as one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
For those who have a car, you can add visiting Falassarna beach which is around a 50 minute drive from Balos. It is a perfect beach destination lined with small taverns and beach bars. It is also an amazing spot to enjoy the sunset.

There are a limited number of sun beds and umbrellas available for rent. However, there are no restaurants or canteens on the beach. Accordingly, you should bring your own beverages and snacks.

The closest international airport to Balos Lagoon is in Chania, one hour and 17 minutes drive away.
The beach can be reached either via a rocky dirt road followed by a 20 minute hike. Alternatively, you can reach it by boat that departs from the port of Kissamos. The boat also makes a stop at the islet of Gramvousa which houses the remains of an imposing Venetian castle.
For those who decide to visit the Balos Lagoon by road, you should rent a Jeep as most of the car rental companies won’t rent out small vehicles to customers who wish to travel to the beach.

Playa de los Guios, Spain (Canary Islands)

One of the most beautiful beaches to visit in Europe in June is Playa de los Guios in Tenerife, one of the Spanish Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Playa de los Guios is located on the south side of the island in the small town of Los Gigantes.
It’s a beautiful volcanic sand beach at the base of the impressive Los Gigantes Cliffs. Because it’s a volcanic beach, the sand is black which gives the beach a unique and otherworldly vibe.
In June, you will still be able to find parking spots close to the beach but expect to pay around 2 euros per hour for parking. Alternatively, you can park slightly higher up in Los Gigantes (for free) and walk the last part down.
The beach is rather small, so during peak season (July and August), it can get really crowded. In June, however, the beach will still be nice to visit. It’s a sandy beach, but you will still find some bigger rocks. Accordingly, if you have water shoes you should bring them, but it’s absolutely doable without.
Another good thing to know is that the cliffs provide natural shade over the beach in the morning. Accordingly, if you’re looking for a place to go sunbathing, it’s better to visit in the afternoon.
Besides taking photos and swimming, there is not too much to do at the beach. Most people visit for the breathtaking views and for relaxing. However, you can also hike from Los Gigantes to Puerto de Santiago (another village along the coast). The walk takes you over some hills, so you will need some level of fitness, but the beautiful views definitely make up for the effort.

There are bathrooms and changing rooms right at the beach and it’s possible to rent lounge chairs. Luckily, the small beach isn’t covered in rental beds and you can still easily bring your own stuff. It’s also located right next to the harbor of Los Gigantes where you can find plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, and shops to buy cute Spanish souvenirs.

Fly into Tenerife South International Airport. It is a 30 minutes drive to Los Gigantes.
You can easily walk to the beach if you’re staying in Los Gigantes. From other beach towns on the south side of the island, it’s a short and easy car ride. There are also three intercity buses that pass through the town, but having your own car is a lot easier.

Uttakleiv Beach, Norway

Way past the polar circle in the north of Norway lies a crooked peninsula stretching far out into the North Sea. This place is Lofoten, a stunning Norwegian destination that is frozen and covered in snow for most of the year.
But come June, most of the snow has gone, although you might spot some patches on top of the many majestic mountain peaks. The beaches here are exceptionally crispy white, and the water is clear and light bluish green. It all looks incredibly inviting. But, the waters here are rarely above 10 degrees celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit)!
This is where you find Uttakleiv Beach. While Lofoten is filled with small bright white sandy beaches, Uttakleiv is a large rolling pebble beach. It offers a sandy area on the one end and vast stone scattered grassy areas where you can set up your tent or mobile home and stay for the night.
This is a beach where you come to experience stunning natural beauty where you sit on the outside of Lofoten facing the vast blue North Sea. Surrounded by mountains, with sheep grazing freely everywhere, this area is only home to a small local population.
The views from Uttakleiv will surely take your breath away. You can come here to windsurf as the winds are rarely completely calm, or just enjoy the magnificent views. In addition, Uttakleiv is a fantastic place to experience the midnight sun in northern Norway. It is one of the places on the planet where the sun never sets between mid-June and mid-July!
In the surrounding areas in Lofoten, there are infinite possibilities for hiking, mountain climbing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, kayaking, and bicycle tours to name a few.

While Cannes is primarily famous thanks to its annual Film Festival, the quaint city on the French Riviera is also highly popular for its beaches of fine white sands lining the Mediterranean Sea. Accessible right from the Casino or from the popular Croisette Boulevard, you can find a mix of public and private beaches. It is one of the best June beach escapes in Europe.
Beaches like Carlton Beach and Long Beach are managed by the Hotel Carlton and Marriott Hotel and are private for their guests. Private beaches are usually close to Croisette Boulevard. It is possible to access them for a fee, where services like sun loungers, staff, and beachside restaurants and bars are available.

Nazare Beach, Portugal

Portugal is blessed with some of the best European beaches in summer. Nazare on the Costa da Prata, halfway between Lisbon and Porto, is home to two fantastic beaches on the Atlantic.
Praia do Nazare (Nazare Beach) is the city beach, and the long stretch of golden sand is perfect for all kinds of beach lovers. Whether you’re looking for a family beach to relax or planning on playing beach football or volleyball, Nazare Beach has something for everyone.
Being the Atlantic, the water is clear but a little cold, offering refreshing dips after sunbathing.
Nazare is known as one of the best surf spots in Europe, and Nazare beach is the perfect place to learn. The beach is somewhat protected from the gigantic swell, making it a great place to take a surf lesson.
Experienced surfers will want to go to Praia do Norte, just around the headland, to surf Nazare’s famous monster waves.
Those who are not into beach activities will still enjoy visiting Nazare. Take the funicular up to the neighbourhood of Sitio to see sweeping view over Nazare. Then, pay a visit to the baroque church of Igreja Nossa Senhora da Nazaré.

There are excellent facilities, including free change rooms, restrooms and showers. In addition, little canvas beach huts can be rented for 7 Euro per day, by the week or even for the whole season.
Nazare Beach is in town, so the entire promenade along the beach is packed with cafes and restaurants where you can get something to eat and drink. If you can’t tear yourself away from the beach, there are vendors selling snacks and drinks directly on the beach.

Nazare doesn’t have a train station but has frequent bus connections to Lisbon and Porto. If you are driving to Nazare, it is 1.5 hours from Lisbon or 2 hours from Porto.
Public buses conveniently reach the beach, or paid parking is available in town. Don’t worry if you’re not driving or don’t like buses. Nazare is very pedestrian friendly, and you can get around town on foot.

However, even though it’s not the warmest destination, Wales in the UK is filled with some of the most incredibly scenic beaches. Thanks to Wales’ rugged coastline, it offers lots of hidden coves and golden beaches.
There is one beach that is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This is Rhossili Beach. The 3 miles of sandy shore can be found at the very end of the Gower Peninsula, in South Wales. This is the perfect place to spend a day surfing, building sand castles and trying to spot any sea life that may be around.
One of the best things to do when visiting Rhossilli Beach is to walk over to Worms Head. It is a bit of a mission but offers the most amazing views of the Gower Coastline. Just make sure you check the tide times before you walk over, otherwise you may get stranded.

Alicante is the largest town on Spain’s Costa Blanca coastline, in the southeast of the country. It is a charming town that has retained its authentic Spanish feel.
Playa del Postiguet (Postiguet Beach) is a beautiful beach in the center of town and popular with locals and visitors alike. June is a great time to visit as the temperature will be warm, but not boiling, and the crowds won’t be quite so busy yet.
The beach is sandy, and the Mediterranean waters are calm and suitable for swimming all year round. At the edge of the beach, along the promenade, there are many palm trees. Also, the famous Santa Barbara Castle towers above, offering a beautiful backdrop to the beach.
There are many water sports available on the beach including parasailing and jet-ski rental. If you want something a bit more relaxing, there are many cruise tours, some with snorkeling, that allow you to enjoy the pristine clear waters and marine life off the coast.
There are many things to do in Alicante. Enjoy a walk along the marble-paved esplanade and harbor with many places to eat and drink. You can also visit Pier 12 for a relaxing evening near the water where you’ll often find live music and various food stalls.
If you need a break from the beach, consider a yoga retreat or head to Santa Barbara Castle, a medieval fortress sitting 166 meters above the town. From here you can enjoy amazing panoramic views of the bay of Alicante.
Walk to the summit, or alternatively, take an elevator from Postiguet Beach as the walk can be tough, especially on a hot day. Entry is free and it’s well worth setting a couple of hours aside to enjoy this activity.

There are changing rooms and toilets available, unfortunately, they are not always open – it’s a bit hit and miss. If they are closed, restaurant toilets are usable if you purchase something. Deck chairs and sun umbrellas are available for rent if you don’t have your own.

Pula is a Croatian city found in the South of the Istria peninsula. Istria is made up of Italy, Slovenia and Croatia on the Adriatic Sea. Being located in this beautiful part of the world means there are lots of beautiful beaches in Pula.
If you only have time to visit one beach in Pula, however, it should be Hawaiian Cove Beach. It is gorgeous and one of the best beach holidays in Europe in June.
It is known as Hawaii Beach because it is located within Principina Cove and has high waves resembling those in Hawaii. If you visit at night, the trees surrounding it are lit up to give a lovely evening view of the beach.
Hawaiian Cove Beach is a rocky beach set below cliff tops. It can only be reached by walking down steps/rocks. There is parking at the entrance to the resort.
You can rent sunbeds in the peak hours of June and there is a lifeguard on site. There are no water activities on this specific beach, they can be found at other nearby beaches in Pula.

Bournemouth Beach is perhaps one of the best known beaches on the Dorset coast of southern England. Seven miles of golden sand and the blue seas of the English Channel, the beach has won numerous water quality and cleanliness awards.
The sandy beach is naturally divided into sections, some are peaceful with only the basic amenities, others have the full array of piers, arcades, water sports, restaurants and bars, meaning that there is a beach to suit everyone.
The main beach is in central Bournemouth just a few minutes away from all of the attractions of this fun loving town. This includes its museums, parks, restaurants, bars, an Oceanarium and the BIC where all the touring big bands and comedians stage live shows. It is the busiest of all the different parts of the beach and packed with arcades, refreshments and water sports, with zip lining over the pier being a popular one for thrill seekers.
If you are looking for something quieter then head away from the town. The beaches are less packed and just as pretty.

One of the best beach getaways in Europe in June is Plage des Sablettes. This is a beach that you can find in the town of Menton on the French Riviera, which is a lovely place to visit in summer. (Menton in winter is great too).
Plage des Sablettes is a sandy beach next to the Mediterranean Sea with shallow water. Because you can find the beach in the town’s center, there are a lot of facilities nearby such as restaurants and cafes next to the beach. From these places, you can also enjoy views of the beach and the sea.
It is possible to rent parasols near the beach. What’s convenient as well is that there are showers, changing rooms, and lifeguards in summer.
Plage des Sablettes is also one of the best places because of its surroundings. From the beach and from the pier next to the beach, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the colorful houses of Menton. These houses make the beach very pretty, and if you love photography, taking photos is great here. Besides that, it is possible to play beach volleyball.

Diamond Beach, Iceland

If you’re open to a different kind of beach experience in June, you should consider one of the black sand beaches of Iceland. South Iceland has miles and miles of jet black sand that gets pounded by the fierce North Atlantic ocean. The contrast of white foam on black sand is striking and visceral.
Arguably the most famous black sand beach in Iceland is Eystri-Fellsfjara, also known as Diamond Beach. It gets its name from the fragments of ice that wash up on the shore, shining like blue and white diamonds against the black sand.
The ice comes from a large glacier lagoon near the beach. Icebergs calve off the glacier and float in the lagoon, slowly melting. When they get small enough, they flow out through a channel into the sea, where they get tossed around by the surf and often pushed back on the beach.
Diamond Beach is free to visit and there’s free parking just off the beach.
June is a great time to visit because although it won’t be warm, it is summer, so it will be less cold than it often is in Iceland – and you have the best chance of clear weather. Plus, in summer, you’ll have long light days and the surrounding countryside will be vibrant green.
Once you’ve wandered the shore and admired the ice jewels, do make sure you visit Jökulsárlón, the most spectacular glacial lake in Iceland. It is right across the road from Diamond Beach and the giant icebergs there are stunning. You should take a boat ride on the lagoon as it is breath-taking. There’s also toilets and a café.
Top tip: Don’t wander too close to the water and don’t be tempted to climb any icebergs. The current can be strong and sneaky waves can take you by surprise and knock you off your feet.

La Caleta, Spain

La Caleta is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cadiz and one of the best European beach vacations in June. The beach is located in the heart of the old town of Cadiz, which is one of the oldest cities in Europe.
La Caleta is a relatively small beach, famous for its golden sand and pretty bay on the Atlantic Ocean.
The beach is flanked by two castles: San Sebastian and Santa Catalina. Behind the beach, there is a very unique building, listed as a cultural sight in Spain, the Spa of our Lady of Palma and the Royal. Whilst the spa doesn’t exist anymore, the building can still be admired or even used as shade on a very hot day.
La Caleta is an urban beach, and it does get very busy during June, when the weather is lovely. If you want to sunbathe here, it is best to arrive quite early. As the beach is sandy, there is no need for water shoes.
La Caleta is a family-friendly beach, because of its sheltered position in the bay, and shallow waters. Motors are also banned inside the bay, which makes the water extremely clean.
La Caleta is adjacent to La Vina neighbourhood, one of the liveliest in Cadiz. After a great day at the beach, you can go enjoy a delicious fish-based dinner at one of the restaurants here.
The fish market in Cadiz is one of the best in Andalucia, and definitely worth a visit. Restaurants usually buy the fish from here in the morning and prepare it later on.

Marina Grande Beach, Italy (Capri)

If you’re looking for a luxury tropical European beach holiday in June, then look no further than the famous island of Capri. The closest city to Capri is Naples, located on the south western coast of Italy along the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The main beach on the island is called Marina Grande, a free beach near the ferry terminal. The beach is clean and very safe, but is rocky, so wear water shoes to protect your feet. It’s also important to note that the beach will fill up quickly during the summer so get there early to claim a spot!
If you are looking for a different option for lunch, then consider Da Paulino, a short walk from Marina Grande. Here you’ll sit under an enchanting lemon grove and eat authentic Italian dishes. Just be sure to book a reservation several months out, as it is a popular spot.
After lunch, book tickets on a small tour boat to take a ride around the island. You’ll get to see many of the famous sights, like the Faraglioni Rocks and the Blue Grotto.
Speaking of the Blue Grotto, you might want to make a separate visit to this unique spot while you’re here as well. It’s a cave on the side of the island that glows bright blue from the sunlight’s reflection on the water.
Once you’re done at the beach, take the Funicular, or cable car, up to Capri town. You’ll want to wander the beautiful streets and have some leather sandals custom made right to your foot.

Dollymount, Ireland

Mostly known among locals and often overlooked by tourists, Dollymount Beach is one Irish gem to add to your summer week long itinerary in Ireland and one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe in June. Located about a 30 minute drive north of Ireland’s capital Dublin, the beach is located on Bull Island, a man-made island.
Dollymount Beach is a 5 kilometres (3 miles) long sandy strand that lies right on Dublin Bay and also offers views of Sutton Town and the Howth Peninsula. The beach is constantly expanding with the movements of the water and the sand accumulating on both ends. In the backdrop, the beach is overlooked by sand grass covered dunes which makes you feel so far from the city while being quite close in reality.
One of the main attractions of the beach, quite surprisingly to tourists but not so much to locals, is swimming. The pier at the end of the beach offers changing booths and stairs to the water.
Other activities on Dollymount Beach include kitesurfing, thanks to the omnipresent Irish wind, and spotting Dublin Bay seals in the water or on the beach early in the morning.
In June, the beach gets busy on weekends when the sun is out though it is quite wide and never feels very crowded. After visiting the beach, it is recommend to head to the Howth Peninsula for a few hours, visiting the town and walking the pier to the lighthouse.
Visitors should be warned that in June, the Irish sun can be sneaky so don’t get tricked by the clouds. Make sure you apply sunscreen!

The beach offers a fine black pebble beach with a crystal clear sea. Fascinating is also the panorama with the mountain Mesa Vouno in the background, which you can enjoy while swimming.
The beach is best visited in low season. So, a vacation at the beginning of June is a good idea. Then you can experience this beautiful bay without large tourist crowds from its most beautiful side. In general, you don’t need water shoes to swim, but the dark sand can get quite hot in summer.
One of the most beautiful sights nearby is the archaeological site, Ancient Thera. This amazing place is located directly on the rock above the bay. It also inspires with a fabulous view of the Kamari Beach. The famous town of Oia is also interesting. You can reach it by bus.

Barrill Beach, Portugal

Barrill Beach is situated on the barrier island Ilha da Tavira in southern Portugal. It is one of the most stunning Algarve beaches and one of the best European beach getaways in June.
It is a beautiful sandy beach in Ria Formosa Natural Park and one of the few corners of the Atlantic Ocean that is calm. This makes it perfect for families as there is no surf like in the rest of the Algarve.
Barril beach is the only beach you can reach walking on the barrier islands. The walk takes you to the quirky anchor cemetery consisting of 200 large rusty anchors lined on the dunes that once were used in the tuna fishing industry in Tavira.
Besides walking, you can take a tourist train that runs regularly from across the walking bridge. The ride only covers 1.3 kilometers so it is easily done by foot. You can park beside the footbridge along the road, but make sure to get there early, as the summer months get busy.

Brighton Beach, England

If you’re looking for a fun traditional British beach in June, then look no further than Brighton. There is plenty to see, do and eat (even on a budget) and it’s just a short train ride from central London.
Brighton is a lively and inclusive city in Sussex on England’s south coast, popular with, well, everyone! You’re bound to find something to entertain anyone and everyone, from young kids and hard-to-please teenagers to seasoned travellers and adventure lovers.
The city is famous for its pebbly beach, but don’t let that put you off because there are plenty of deck chairs to rent along the coast. You’ll also probably be too busy on the pier with a bag of candy floss to notice anyway! There are arcades, rides, food stalls and even a fortune teller – all classic British seaside features that you can’t miss.
Always check the weather (it is England, after all!) and the more sun there is, the earlier you should arrive. The beach does get quite busy in the summer months so you’ll want to get a spot close to the pier before everyone else arrives. Bring a windbreaker too as it can get quite breezy near the water.
Order fish and chips from one of the many places along the front – they’re all good so don’t worry about choosing between them. Harry Ramsden’s is a big chain if you’d prefer but sticking to local restaurants is always a better idea. You should also try the cockles on the seafront – they’re not to everyone’s taste but they are a local delicacy!
If you must drive, the Marina offers free parking for its visitors so do take a trip there to take advantage of this. You can even take a fishing boat trip from here called Catch and Cook. You’ll spend a few hours at sea learning how to fish properly. Then you’ll be able to take your catch to a nearby restaurant to cook it for your dinner.

The beaches in Barcelona are popular at any time of year, from strolling along the promenade in winter to sunbathing in the summer. In July and August, the beaches are filled with tourists and locals alike. In June, they are a little less busy, but still with plenty of sunshine. It is one of the best European city breaks with spectacular beaches.
The beach stretches around 5km from the sail-shaped W Hotel at the south end right up to Diagonal Mar, the majority of which was artificially created for the 1992 Olympics. The beaches here are flat and sandy.
The beaches closest to the city are usually busier, especially around the neighbourhood of Barceloneta.
You’ll also find beach volleyball nets and ping pong tables if you’re feeling active! One of the best things to do on the beach in Barcelona is to walk, jog or cycle along the promenade for as long as you like. Alternatively, get out onto the water and paddle board or windsurf, if the conditions are right.
For one night in June, the beach is the place to go to party! June 24 is St John’s day. On the previous evening, the feast day is celebrated in raucous style with bonfires and fireworks all around the city.
El Nit de Sant Joan as it’s known in Catalan takes place on the 23rd of June, and the beach is also a popular place to go as you can see fireworks all around the city. There are bonfires on the beach too, so bring food and drink and party the night away!

If you are searching for blue water with an incredible view, one of the best tropical beaches in Europe in summer is Spiaggia Grande. If you don’t recognize the name, you will certainly recognize the beach in a photo since it is one of the top photographed beaches in Italy. Located on the Amalfi Coast in the adorable town of Positano, this is a beach lover’s dream.
Spiaggia Grande is the main beach in Positano and it is free to visit. What have beach goers swooning when visiting this location is the incredible views of the beach along with the colorful cliffside village.
The beach is located on the Tyrrhenian Sea and is a mix of tiny rocks and coarse sand. Some type of waterproof shoe is recommended since the tiny rocks do hurt your feet a little closer to the water.
It is best to get there early because the beach is rather small and right in the heart of Positano, so it gets crowded quickly.
Besides lounging on the beach, you can also take a boat tour from the beach which is very popular. Additionally, you can go shopping above the beach where you will find some beautiful ceramic shops. You can also enjoy yourself at one of the many rooftop restaurants or by doing the Path of the Gods hike.

Nice, France

One of the best European beach escapes in June are those in Nice, France, along the Promenade des Anglais.
There are not really lounge chairs to rent on most of the beach. People usually bring their own towels, blankets, or even just clothes on which to lay. There are bathrooms spread out on the beach, and a few rinse off shower stations. The beaches on the Mediterranean in the French Riviera are all rocky so make sure to bring good water shoes.
There are many restaurants right on the beach, such as Plage Beau Rivage Nice, and there are grocery stores in town, though you’ll have to walk into town a little bit to get to them.
If you tired of sunbathing or swimming in the ocean, you can walk along the beautiful Promenade des Anglais, a wide, beautiful pathway along the ocean. Alternatively, take a boat cruise on the Mediterranean, watching the French coastline sail by.
Farther inland, you absolutely must explore the Old Town. It is filled with pastel colored buildings, narrow streets, and little restaurants and boutiques. For an extra treat, you can also find squares filled with gelato shops, and daily flower markets.

Looking for the perfect summer European beach holiday? Look no further! Ribeira d’Ilhas is the beach with the best surf waves in Europe. Located on the outskirts of Ericeira village, this surfer’s paradise is a 30-minute drive from Lisbon Airport.
This sandy beach is along the coast of the only World Surf Reserve in Europe. It is the most popular due to the large-scale surf events that take place here yearly. Although it gets very busy in July and August, June is an excellent month to visit since the summer crowds haven’t yet taken over. The weather has also warmed up significantly.
Ribeira d’Ilhas is also one of the few beaches on the reserve where you can rent surf, SUP, or body boarding equipment on the spot. You can also easily get your first surf class if you’d like to try it out.
Several fantastic bike and hiking trails also start here. They take you along the cliffs to see some of the most beautiful sea views in the area.
Beach Facilities
There is easy parking and excellent structure provided by the recently built surf center. With a great restaurant that offers a chill lounge with bean bags, you will find it the perfect place to relax and have a drink. You can also watch the surfers and enjoy the sand between your toes.
Even though there are no loungers or sun shades on the beach, there are bathrooms, showers, and surf shops all right down on the sand. This makes it the perfect spot to come spend the day whether you ride the waves or not.

Fly into Lisbon International Airport and drive 45 minutes to Ribeira d’Ilhas Beach.
If you aren’t planning on renting a car, the Beach Bus will get you and your board there. This bus visits all the different surf spots along the surf reserve, between the months of June and September.

One among the beautiful Maro beaches and the most hidden is Cala de Maro. Also known as Cala Barranco de Maro, this small cove is treasured between sugar cane plantations. It is only 21 yards (20 meters) wide. It is one of the most beautiful beach vacations In Europe in June.
The beach is rocky and small. But, it still has a lot of privacy to offer tourists. The thick vegetation is the central feature of this small beach which makes it pristine, beautiful and deserted.
While there are as no facilities like lounge chairs or bathrooms at the beach, you may find some restaurants and cafes. The parking is also free along the road but note that it fills up.
This beach does not feel busy even during peak summer season. You can enjoy the warmth of June without worrying about the rush of tourists.
The beach is only accessible through a sandy trail, which is in good condition and almost flat. However, the path near the sea becomes a bit difficult as the bamboo is a little overgrown. You’ll have to bend down to pass through it. This walk will take you around 20 minutes, a fun hiking trail near Malaga.
The beach is isolated so there are no tours like kayaking and scuba tours from here. But you can enjoy the tours that leave from Nerja. You can also do Scuba diving in the reserve.

If you want to drive to Cala de Maro from Malaga, follow the A-7 going east. Take exit Nerja from A-7, then the immediate left onto a small gravel road. It is around 45 minutes drive.
