Madrid is the capital city of Spain and a very underrated city. A lot of tourists skip Madrid and head to Barcelona or Malaga but it is one of the best European cities to visit in April. April is a good time of year to visit this European destination. The city isn’t too crowded with tourists so you can get good deals on accommodation and flights. As well, April is when the popular Semana Santa takes place which is a holy week with a lot of different celebrations including grand processions. While this is a mostly Andalusian tradition, Madrid actually holds quite a few festivities during this week that shouldn’t be missed.
You could easily spend a week here if not more. The museums alone will take you a few days to see including the famous Prado or the Museo de Reina Sofia, two of the world’s most important art museums. The Prado displays masterpieces by Velázquez, Rubens, Goya, El Bosco, and El Greco, to name a few.

Today, it’s one of the most famous landmarks in Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The six remaining active monasteries perch on imposing steep rocks reaching almost 2000 feet (or 600 m) high.

Kalemegdan is the largest park in Belgrade. In addition, it has the Kalemegdan fortress, the most important historical monument in Belgrade. It is located on a 400 ft or 125 metre high cliff with beautiful views of the Sava and the Danube rivers. The old citadel has protected the city since 279 BC.
Nearby is Knez Mihailova, the main shopping street and Skadarlija, the bohemian quarter of Belgrade, with restaurants and artisan shops along cobblestone streets.
April does bring some rain, but even on a rainy day there are plenty of things to do in Belgrade. There are several interesting museums such as the Tito museum about the leader of the former Yugoslavia (1945-1980) and the National Museum about the country’s history.

Start your 2 day Lisbon itinerary with a trip on the iconic yellow tram 28 up to the Alfama neighborhood, one of the oldest in Lisbon. Miradouro da Graça is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset and take in the rooftop views. Afterwards, enjoy this historic neighborhood full of narrow cobbled stone roads, ancients houses, cafes and entertainment.
If you only see a few landmarks in Lisbon, make sure you include Belem Tower and Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. This is the location from where Portuguese explorers would set off to explore the world. The county is one of the countries’ least populous, so for glorious isolation and miles and miles of incredible countryside to yourself, this is the place.

On another day, explore the Amalfi Coast. The Amalfi Coast is 31 miles (50 km) of coastline along with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline with small beaches and fishing villages. Either drive or take a bus along the narrow cliffside roads with stunning vistas over the sea.
